After more than 10 years, Rockstar Games is finally releasing a sequel to Grand Theft Auto 5, the hit open-world crime game that’s sold over 200 million copies. In 2023, fans got their first official look at Grand Theft Auto 6 with a teaser trailer.
Before that, a major leak in 2022 had already revealed some early details. But the first trailer confirmed a lot—and then some—with scenes of wild street races, store robberies, alligator encounters, and plenty of Florida-style chaos. It also introduced the game’s two main characters involved in various small-time crimes.
A second trailer later gave fans an even better look at the game’s characters, setting, and story. From what we’ve seen so far, GTA 6 is shaping up to be a massive, visually stunning crime adventure set in a fictional take on southern Florida.
When is GTA 6’s release date?
Rockstar originally aimed to release Grand Theft Auto 6 in fall 2025, but the game has since been delayed. It’s now officially set to launch on May 26, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.

What platforms will GTA 6 be released on?
Grand Theft Auto 6 will launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X in 2026. A PC version hasn’t been announced yet, but that’s typical for the series, which often releases on PC later. In May 2024, Take-Two’s CEO hinted that a PC release isn’t off the table—it just hasn’t been confirmed yet.
Is GTA 6 going to cost $100?
There’s talk that GTA 6 might be priced as high as $100, but Rockstar hasn’t confirmed anything yet. The rumour started after analyst Matthew Ball suggested in a 2025 presentation that some developers hope GTA 6 will break past the current $70 price point, possibly landing between $80 and $100. For now, the actual price is still unknown.
The game will feature two main characters and a modern setting full of street races, robberies, and alligator encounters—complete with that signature Florida Man energy. A second trailer has revealed even more about the story, characters, and setting, showing off stunning visuals and a massive open world.
Here’s a quick summary of what we know so far:
- Release Date: May 26, 2026
- Platforms: PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X (no PC version announced yet)
- Price: Unconfirmed, but some believe it could be higher than the usual $70 price tag
